Care and repair

Wool cleans itself better than you’d think. Look after it gently and it will last for years.

Washing

  • Wash less often: airing a wool garment overnight is often enough to freshen it.
  • Machine wash at 30 °C on a wool cycle, or by hand in lukewarm water.
  • Use a wool detergent. No fabric softener, no bleach.
  • Spin at 400 rpm at most.
  • Always check the garment’s label: it has the last word.

Drying

Lay knitwear flat to dry, away from direct heat and sunlight. Don’t wring it. Vests and jackets with wool insulation can be hung to dry; shake them out once dry to loosen the fill.

Storing

Store wool clean and dry, folded rather than hung. Moths love unwashed wool: a sachet of cedar or lavender in the drawer helps keep them away.

Repair

A small hole, a loose seam or a broken zip doesn’t mean the end of a garment. Our vests and jackets are sewn in our own workshop, and we’d rather repair them than see them replaced. Contact us with a photo of the damage and we’ll tell you what we can do.
